Recently I had a discussion with my colleague about his marketing emails. Sometimes people are still receiving their emails as text instead of html. That means if you tagged your link to track in google analytics you end up with a very long URL address. (i.e. http://hoodamath.com/games/?utm_source=dublox&utm_medium=dublox&utm_campaign=dublox) I recommend: http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55578 to build a google analytics tagged link easily. So to hide such as long link, you can easily go to Bit.Ly and take that long URL link (including the tags) and now have a short link like bit.ly/dubloxtagged . This can now be sent in emails that even show up as text. And if the reader is still copying and pasting URLs or just typing them over to the browser, this is to guarantee your tags are still included.
